MoST Union Minister attends World Standards Day 2025, marks completion of national quality infrastructure, certification body

THE Ministry of Science and Technology celebrated the 13th World Standards Day 2025 in Nay Pyi Taw yesterday.

Union Minister Dr Myo Thein Kyaw, who is also chair of the National Standards Council, highlighted this year’s theme, “Shared Vision for a Better World: Spotlight on SDG 17-Partnerships for the Goals”, and said the international standards are essential for global development, as they can accelerate technology and innovation. Myanmar has successfully established 948 national standards, and by applying these standards in both government and private sectors, domestic products will be of good quality and gain international recognition, and these facts will facilitate smoother trade and help enhance the export sector.

The video clips of Mr Sergio Mujica, Secretary-General of the International Organization for Standardization and World Standards Day 2025 were played.

The Union minister also addressed the completion Project on Strengthening National Quality Infrastructure and Implementation of National Certification Body for Certifying Products, Processes, and Services, developed by Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Special Fund (2023) online.

The officials of relevant departments made remarks and discussed the project processes. The event was attended by First Secretary Dr Zhang Zhonghua of the Chinese Embassy in Myanmar. — MNA/KTZH
