Senior Military Officials Assigned Duties for Rehabilitation Processes Start to Participate in Rehabilitation Activities in Cyclone-Affected Areas

In a bid to carry out rehabilitation activities effectively and widely 14 townships in Rakhine state and four townships in Chin state where damage and loss occurred in the aftermath of the natural disaster, on 18 May, the State Administration Council assigned senior officials at every township to supervise the activities there. In this regard, the senior military officials who have been assigned duties started to carry out the rehabilitees at their respective areas.
· Lt. Gen. Min Naing from the Ministry of Defence along with Chin state Chief Minister, deputy commander of Northwest Command and Ministry departmental officials held a meeting on relief and rehabilitation measures for the damages caused by Cyclone in Chin state at the meeting hall of state government in Hakha city of Chin state on 19 May.
· Lt. Gen. Lu Aye from the Ministry of Defence together with the members of district disaster management committee visited the schools and other places which suffered damages in the aftermath of Cyclone Mocha in Kyaukphyu township and attended to the needs on 20 May.
· On 20 May, Brig. Gen. Tin Swe and officials inspected the schools, public hospital and rural dispensaries which were destroyed in the aftermath of Cyclone Mocha in Maungdaw township of Rakhine state and attended to the needs.
· On 20 May, Maj-Gen Thaung Htike Shwe, accompanied by Commander of Light Infantry Division, District Planning and Administration Committee and officials, made inspection tours to the destroyed roofs and ceilings of Basic Education Schools as well as the pagodas, Buddhist monasteries and religious buildings in MraukU Township damaged by the storm, and coordinated with relevant officials and attended to the needs.
· On 21 May, Brig. Gen. Kyaw Kyaw Oo accompanying with officials inspected the schools, which were destroyed in the aftermath of Cyclone Mocha in Manaung township of Rakhine state. He met with the township elders, teachers and coordinated with them to repair the schools as early as possible before the schools open and also attended to the needs.
· On 21 May, Maj. Gen. Soe Naing Oo arriving at Thandwe township together with officials inspected the religious buildings, and public houses damaged due to the strong winds. He then coordinated with relevant officials to attend the needs.
· On 21 May, Maj. Gen. Aung Myo Tun, accompanied along with other officials, arrived in Yathedaung Township to oversee storm damage restoration efforts of damaged buildings, preparations to open high schools as early as possible, distribution of relief supplies (drinking water, cloths and foodstuffs) to the storm-affected families and then attended the needs.
· On 20 and 21 May, members of natural disaster rehabilitation committee led by Brigadier General Kyaw Kyaw Soe provided 496 bags of rice and 10 cans of evaporated milk donated by Rakhine State Government for 16 village-tracts suffering heavy damages due to the storm through village administrators at Myaebon Township of MraukU District in Rakhine State. The Brigadier General and party then went to Taungpaw ward and inspected the damaged buildings of Bengali people and instructed relevant officials to repair the damaged mosques as early as possible and to implement private-owned egg-laying farms.
The senior officials are carrying out relief and rehabilitation activities in respective townships in their assigned areas every day.
