In some townships across States and Regions, terrorists motivated by a radical ideology that views “anyone with differing views is an enemy” are conducting violent assaults and assassinations. Their targets are innocent civilians who do not support their terrorist acts. Using firearms and knives, these terrorists are committing brutal assassinations after accusing them of “spies, informants or decoys”. This strategy is intended to instill fear among peaceable civilians and create a pervasive sense of dread within these communities.

Since they are committing such terrorist acts, on 18 July 2025 at 9:00 AM, a report stated that two men were shot dead near an oil-palm plantation in Phwat Thoat Village, Kawthoung Township of Tanintharyi Region. When security personnel arrived at the scene for further investigation, the victims were identified as U Tun Tun Aung (40 years old), the in-charge of the oil-palm plantation in No. 1 Special Plantation Zone owned by the Yu Za Na Oil-Palm Company and U Hmat Gyi (68 years old), an employee of the plantation. The incident occurred on 17 July 2025 at around 11:00 PM, when the victims were at the plantation, approximately 20 so-called PDF terrorists arrived and abducted them, accusing them of being “decoys or informants”. The terrorists took them to the outside of the plantation and shot them. As a result, both men died on the spot, it is reported.

Security personnel are persistently taking necessary measures to identify and apprehend the terrorists responsible for the aforementioned case, it is reported.
