Myanmar delegation led by the Union Chief Justice Htun Htun Oo attended 10th Council of ASEAN Chief Justices’ Meeting-CACJ which was held from 4 November to 5 November in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, organized by the Federal Court of Malaysia. The Union Chief Justice attended the 10th CACJ meeting together with the Chief Justices of ASEAN countries.
The Chief Justice Htun Htun Oo made an opening speech together with The Hon. Tun Tengku Maimun binti Tuan Mat, Chief Justice of Federal Court of Malaysia, the new Chair of the CACJ and the Chief Justices of ASEAN countries. Then, the Hon. Chief Justice Htun Htun Oo discussed on the reports of the Working Group of ASEAN Judiciaries Portal (AJP), Facilitating Service of Civil Processes within ASEAN, Case Management and Court Technology, Judicial Education and Training and ASEAN+Meetings. The Chief Justices and the Heads of Delegations agreed the draft and signed the Kuala Lumpur Declaration. In the meeting, the Chief Justices of ASEAN countries agree inaugural CACJ Retreat which reflects on CACJ’s achievements over the past ten years and chart CACJ’s strategic agenda for the next ten years, to be held in 2023.
Inaugural ASEAN+Meetings
In the 2nd day of the meeting, the Chief Justices of ASEAN countries attend the meeting in person and Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Korea, Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Japan and Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the People Republic of China attended through online. Regarding with the topic of Court Technology and Access to Justice: Challenges and Key Success Factors, Chief Justice Htun Htun Oo discussed on experience of Myanmar Judiciary.
The Union Chief Justice attended the meeting along with the Supreme Court Justice Thaung Naing and Myanmar Focal points of CACJ Working Groups.
