Young Man Shot Dead by So-Called PDF Terrorist Group in Taungtha Township of Mandalay Region

   In some townships across States and Regions, terrorists motivated by a radical ideology that views “anyone with differing views is an enemy” are conducting violent assaults and assassinations. Their targets are innocent civilians who do not support their terrorist acts. Using firearms and knives, these terrorists are committing brutal assassinations after accusing them of “spies, informants or decoys”. This strategy is intended to instill fear among peaceable civilians and create a pervasive sense of dread within these communities.

   Since they are committing such terrorist acts, on 20 November 2025 at 12:00 PM, U Maung Maung (60 years old), a member of the Union Solidarity and Development Party and a resident of Kyi Kone Village in Taungtha Township of Mandalay Region, was at a hut with his family near the Sin Tal Wa dam close to Tha Mat Ku Village. At that time, two so-called PDF terrorists arriving by motorcycle, attempted to abduct U Maung Maung. His family members resisted and the terrorists opened fire on them. Consequently, U Maung Maung’s son, Mg Nyein Chan Ko (19 years old), died on the spot. One of the terrorists fled the scene, while the other was knocked unconscious. The family found a Sig Sauer pistol, a magazine and two bullets in the terrorist’s possession and handed the terrorist and seized items over to security personnel from Aye Village in Taungtha Township, it is reported.

   Security personnel are persistently taking necessary measures to identify and apprehend the terrorists responsible for the aforementioned case, it is reported.
