Village Tract Administrator Shot Dead by So-Called PDF Terrorist Group in Mahlaing Township of Mandalay Region

     In some townships across States and Regions, terrorists motivated by a radical ideology that views “anyone with differing views is an enemy” are conducting violent assaults and assassinations. Their targets are administrative officials who do not support their terrorist acts. Using firearms and knives, these terrorists are committing brutal assassinations after accusing them of “spies, informants or decoys”. This strategy is intended to instill fear among peaceable civilians and create a pervasive sense of dread within these communities.

     Since they are committing such terrorist acts, on 25 August 2025 at 8:30 AM, a report stated that the body of a man with gunshot wounds was found on the roadside of the Natogyi-Mahlaing road near Than Kone Village in Mahlaing Township of Mandalay Region. When security personnel arrived at the scene for further investigation, the victim was identified as U Chit Thae (52 years old), the Village Tract Administrator and a resident of Sone Twin Village. The incident occurred on 23 August 2025 at 8:00 PM, while the victim was walking to Tha Yat Kan Village but did not return home. A search was conducted, and discovered that he was shot dead near Than Kone village by a so-called PDF terrorist group, it is reported.

     Security personnel are persistently taking necessary measures to identify and apprehend the terrorists responsible for the aforementioned case, it is reported.
