In some townships across States and Regions, armed terrorists driven by a radicalized ideology that considers 'Anyone with differing views is an enemy' are carrying out violent assaults and assassinations. Their targets include innocent civilians who do not endorse their terrorist activities. Using firearms and knives, they accuse these individuals of being 'spies,' 'informants,' or 'decoys' to instill fear among peace-seeking civilians, causing a pervasive sense of dread within these communities.

Since they are conducting such terrorist acts, on 16 February at 2:30 PM, a report stated that three males and three females lost their lives due to being stabbed and slashed with knives beside the Lapat Village of Kyaukgyi Township, Bago Region. Security personnel promptly arrived at the scene and conducted an inspection. During the investigation, it was found that the victims- Ko Phoe Kyaw (25 years old), Ko Kyaw Gyi (aka) Kyaw Hein (20 years old), U Paing Soe Min (41 years old), Daw Thi (63 years old), Daw Khin Thida Soe (35 years old) and Ma Kyi Pyar Khine (40 years old) were residents of Lapat Village. They were travelling on a sidecar motorcycle from Lapat Village towards Kyaukgyi Town to transport rice grains. At a point roughly six furlongs southeast of Lapat Village, adjacent to a local church, a violent group consisting of KNU members who support terrorism and so-called PDF terrorists launched a brutal attack using knives. Unfortunately, the victims succumbed to their knife wounds, it is reported.

Similarly, on 17 February at 9:15 AM, a report stated that a man was shot dead at the “Tawwin” tea shop, which is located beside the Wundwin-Thaltaw Road in Thaltaw Myoma No. (1) Ward in Wundwin Township, Mandalay Region. Security personnel promptly arrived at the scene and conducted an inspection. During the investigation, it was found that   Ko Nanda Kyaw (26 years old), who lived in this ward, was enjoying tea inside the tea shop when two so-called PDF terrorists arrived by a motorcycle and opened fire on him before fleeing. As a result, Ko Nanda Kyaw died from gunshot injuries, it is reported.

Similarly, on 17 February at 1:30 PM, U Aung Aung Tun (37 years old), who lived in Zardi Village of Yebyu Township, Tanintharyi Region, was at home when six so-called PDF terrorists arrived by three motorcycles and opened fire on him. As a result, U Aung Aung Tun died from gunshot injuries, it is reported.

Security personnel are persistently undertaking essential measures to identify and apprehend the terrorists responsible for killings and assassinations of innocent civilians in the abovementioned cases. These acts stem from a radicalized ideology that deems anyone holding differing views as an enemy, it is reported.
