KKO (Splinter Group) and PDF Terrorists’ Shootings of Heavy Weapons Injure a Buddhist Monk

On 15 June, KKO (splinter group) and PDF terrorists fired heavy weapons targeting Kawkareik township of Kayin state and the shells fell and exploded on the main building of Zawtiyarma monastery and its compound. Due to the attack, the abbot monk Bandanta Kawvida got severe injuries.
In the past, the PDF terrorists fired improvised mortars and launched drone attacks on non-military targets of schools, departmental buildings and residential areas causing many civilian casualties. Moreover, they also kill monks, for no reason, who are serving for dispensation of Buddha Sasana causing damage to the Buddhism. So far, their reckless attacks and brutal killing claimed the lives of 74 Buddhist monks and one nun and injured 35 monks and one nun causing public outrage.
It is reported that security force members continue necessary security measures to arrest and take action against the terrorists who fired heavy weapons into the public town, and to ensure community peace and stability.
