SAC Information Team Leader Maj-Gen Zaw Min Tun Make Explanations on the Fighting Situation in Northern Shan State, Rakhine State and Loikaw Township of Kayah State

Regarding the fighting situation in northern Shan State, Rakhine State and Loikaw Township of Kayah State, leader of the State Administration Council Information Team Major General Zaw Min Tun explained as follows –

· Battles broke out in northern Shan State, Loikaw Township of Kayah State, Rakhine State and to the northeast of Tamoenye in the northeastern part of Shan State.

· The military’s command in Theinni Township has been taking measures to restore security and safety in the town.

· In Loikaw Township, the terrorist groups so-called KNPP and PDF using heavy weapons attacked Loikaw University and tried to abduct academic staff and students around 8 a.m. on 13 November. Therefore, the local Tatmadaw security personnel had to evacuate the education staff and students to safe places.

· During the evacuation attempts, clashes broke out between the terrorists and the security personnel. Following the clashes, several dead bodies of terrorist insurgents were left and arms and ammunition were seized. The security personnel managed to evacuate the education staff and students and continued taking measures to evacuate the remaining people in the university.

· That was a total cruelty of KNPP members and PDF terrorists to launch attack on a non-military target of the University.

· Also, in Rakhine state, the AA group raided a border guard police outpost of Donpike and the Tatmadaw (Army) and Navy conducted a joint operation.

· In Sagaing Region, Htigyaing township is apparently under control and Tatmadaw personnel are chasing down the combined KIA and AA groups around the Htigyaing township area.

· The terrorists and insurgents are destroying the State and public property as well as education and health sectors rather than their matters in the name of democracy.

· Similarly, they are also invading education and health facilities using them as fortified bases or bunkers in the Sagaing region.

Major General also added that the people, together with the military, must root out and eradicate the terrorists who are carrying out terrorist acts.
