As police personnel sustained injuries, around 02:00 AM on 9 February, they received air and artillery support and retreated in an orderly manner to join the security camp located in the southern part of the town. The police were able to successfully regroup and relocate to the secure location.

During the attack, several Myanmar police personnel were killed or injured, and some small arms were lost and in need of repair. In response to the situation, military reinforcements arrived in Thantlang on the evening of 9 February, and efforts are underway to recapture the township police station and secure the town. According to reports, preparations are being made for a counter-terrorism operation in Thantlang, which includes recapturing the police station and restoring safety and order to the town.
