Innocent Civilian Killed and Three Others Injured in Attacks by KNU and So-Called PDF Terrorists in Thayetchaung Township of Tanintharyi Region

     The terrorists, the Committee Representing Pyidaungsu Hluttaw (CRPH) and the National Unity Government (NUG), with the aim of nationwide destruction, have formed the terrorists known as the so-called PDF. Under various pretexts, in some regions, they have been arresting, torturing and killing government servants, monks and innocent local residents, as well as engaging in armed clashes and carrying out attacks in wards and villages.

     Since they are committing such terrorist acts, on 23 February 2026 at 10:55 AM, a report stated that a man with gunshot wounds was admitted to Dawei Township Public Hospital in Tanintharyi Region. When security personnel arrived at the hospital for further investigation, the victim was identified as Ko Paik Aung (22 years old), a resident of Nyaung Zin Village in Thayetchaung Township. According to the investigation, at 9:45 AM, on the same day, while the victim was returning home on his motorcycle from Yan Taung Village, a combined group of KNU and so-called PDF terrorists opened fire on him, near the exist of Yan Taung Village using small-arms, resulting in his injuries, it is reported.

     Similarly, at 10:30 AM, on the same day, a six-wheeled truck, driven by U Kyaw Min Soe (39 years old), a resident of Eain Shae Pyin Ward in Dawei Township, accompanied by U Saw Tay Tay Phoe (30 years old) and Ko Khant Zin Naing (23 years old) was transporting chicken mash sacks from Dawei Township to Thayetchaung Township. When the truck reached an area near Pan Pyin Village in Thayetchaung Township, a combined group of KNU and the so-called PDF terrorists opened fire on the vehicle using small-arms. As a result of the attack, U Kyaw Min Soe died on the spot, while U Saw Tay Tay Phoe and Ko Khant Zin Naing sustained gunshot wounds. The deceased and injured individuals were transported to Dawei Township Public Hospital for examination and medical treatment, it is reported.

     According to the above-mentioned cases, local residents are condemning and protesting against the indiscriminate shootings and killings of innocent civilians by armed terrorists, who intended to spread fear among the public. In response, security personnel, in collaboration with local residents, are intensifying security measures to identify and apprehend the terrorists responsible for the incidents, it is reported.
