Barge Loading Cement Sacks Extorted by So-Called PDF Terrorist Group in Thayet Township of Magway Region

     Terrorists are carrying out attacks, planting mines, and extortion civilians through threats and kidnappings targeting non-military vessels, cargo trucks, passenger vehicles and other civilian transport. Their aim is to destabilize the state and undermine the rule of law and to disrupt the flow of goods in the region.  

     Since they are conducting such terrorist acts, on 14 September 2025 at 7:00 AM, the barge “Kan Su Wai” steered by U Ye Nyunt and accompanied by two crew members, was transporting 47,922 sacks of cement. It was travelling along the Ayeyarwady River from Pakokku Township of Magway Region to Yangon City. When the barge reached Myin Bar Village in Thayet Township, approximately 10 so-called PDF terrorists arriving by a mortorboat. They forced the barge to move toward Kyauk Oh Village, threatened the crew, demanded ransom money and subsequently released the barge.

     It has been reported that the security personnel are investigating the culprits of the acts of terrorism from the above incident to take effective action in accordance with the law.
