Approximately 150 Houses Burned in Heavy and Small Arms Attack by So-Called PDF Terrorist Group in Taungtha Township of Mandalay Region

     On 15 May 2025, in Taungtha Township of Mandalay Region, a so-called PDF terrorist group launched an attack on a village using both heavy and small weapons, firing indiscriminately and burning down approximately 150 houses, it is reported.

     The incident occurred on 15 May at 6:20 AM, when a so-called PDF terrorist group launched an attack on Hta Naung Kone Village in Taungtha Township of Mandalay Region. The terrorists fired both heavy and small arms during their incursion into the village. In response, local Public Militia units providing village security engaged in defensive counterfire, forcing the terrorist group to retreat. By 11:30 AM, the terrorists had fled toward Thar Si Village, located approximately five miles west of Hta Naung Kone Village. As a result of the attack, approximately 150 residential houses were burned and destroyed. During the counter-operation, a local Public Militia member U Mar (33 years old) and a resident of the village, sustained fatal gunshot wounds and succumbed to his injuries, it is reported.

     Due to the heinous acts of armed terrorists such as engaging in battles and firing of heavy weapons and improvised rockets within towns, wards and villages where innocent civilians peacefully reside, innocent people have been injured. Consequently, local residents are protesting vehemently against these acts of terrorism, completely refusing to accept them. Security personnel are intensifying necessary security measures in collaboration with the local residents, it is reported.
