Four Innocent Civilians Injured in Small-Arms Attack on Passenger Speedboat by So-Called PDF Terrorists in Thayetchaung Township of Tanintharyi Region

     Political extremist terrorist groups, with the intention of destabilizing the state’s peace and stability, are carrying out acts of terror such as firing heavy and small arms into towns and villages where innocent civilians reside, despite these are not being military targets shooting at vehicles travelling on public roads and conducting mine attacks planting mines to destroy and damage roads and bridges.

     Since they are conducting such terrorist acts, on 3 February 2026 at 11:00 AM, the “Yadana Pyae Phyo-27” passenger speedboat steered by U Maung Lat (40 years old), a resident of Kyunsu Township of Tanintharyi Region, accompanied by 2 boat conductors and 13 passengers, was travelling form Myeik Town to Dawei Township. The same day, when the boat reached an area about 300 yards west of Kywal Zat Village in Thayetchaung Township, a so-called PDF terrorist group opened fire on the boat using small arms along the Dawei River bank. As a result of the attack, the driver U Maung Lat and three passengers, U Thiha Soe (32 years old), a resident of Thin Kyun Village in Thayetchaung Township, U Su Nge (54 years old), a resident of Yan Taung Village. Ma Eaint Thazin Htay, 11 years old, a resident of Kyat Hlut Village in Launglon Township, sustained gunshot wounds and were transported to Thayetchaung Township Public Hospital for medical treatment, it is reported.

     It has been reported that the security personnel are investigating the culprits of the acts of terrorism from the above incident to take effective action in accordance with the law.
