Innocent Civilians, Including Children, Killed and Injured in Heavy Weapon Attack by KIA Insurgents and So-Called PDF Terrorists in Hpakant Township of Kachin State

     Terrorists are ruthlessly carrying out abductions, killings and armed attacks, using both heavy and small weapons, improvised rocket attacks on wards and villages, as well as conducting drone strikes, all with the intent to harm civilians and instill fear among the public.

     Since they are conducting such terrorist acts, on 3 February 2026 at 11:15 AM, a combined group of KIA insurgents and so-called PDF terrorists fired heavy weapons into Sut Jat Village in Hpakant Township of Kachin State. One of the shells exploded within the village. As a result of the blast, Mg Aung Ti Kyi Phyu (6 years old) and Mg Saw Kyi Phyu (13 years old), both residents of the village, died on the spot. Additionally, 12 other villagers U Kyaw Kyaw Than (41 years old), Daw Phyu Phyu Win (30 years old), Daw Thal Thal Oo (30 years old), Ko Ah Sai (23 years old), Daw Cho Cho Win (30 years old), U Myo Min Ko (36 years old), Ma Thal Mon Oo (24 years old), U Kyaw Myo Oo (35 years old), Mg Aung Bone Myat Phyu (3 years old), Ma July Aung (aka) Hla Hla (5 years old), Ma Alinkar (5 years old), Ma Pan Myat Mon (3 years old), and sustained shrapnel injuries. All injured individuals were transported to Hpakant Township Public Hospital for medical treatment, it is reported.

     According to the above-mentioned case, local residents are condemning and protesting against the indiscriminate firing of heavy weapons, small arms, improvised rockets and drone attacks by dropping bombs on wards and villages. In response, security personnel, in collaboration with local residents, are intensifying security measures to identify and apprehend the terrorists responsible for the incident, it is reported.
