The Myanmar National Human Rights Commission (MNHRC) inspects Day Care Centre for the Aged

   The inspection team led by members of the Commission U Kyaw Soe, Dr. Than Myint and Dr. Myint Thu Myaing, conducted an inspection visit to the Day Care Centre for the Aged, located in Mayangone Township, Yangon Region on 18-7-2025, in accordance with the Section 22 (e) and Section 43 of the MNHRC Law. The facility operates under the supervision of the Department of Social Welfare.

   During the visit, the inspection team met with the elderly residents in their living quarters and assessed a range of conditions, including the provision of healthcare services, food and nutritional support, access to clean drinking and household water, freedom of religion and belief, and the overall hygiene and sanitation standards of dormitories, bathrooms, toilets, lounges and kitchens. They also inquired about arrangements for recreation and relaxation, the accessibility of pension payments for eligible residents, arrangements for offering assistance to the elders to go to the bus stand for return trips from the Day Care Centre, the status of the caregiver training course for the elderly, which is conducted twice a year, the trainee attendance situation, and arrangements for field visits for the trainees to external residential homes for the aged.

   The team extended warm words of encouragement to the 102 elderly individuals residing at the facility.

   The inspection team will send its findings and recommendations to the relevant department in accordance with the MNHRC Law, for necessary action.
