Civil Servant Escapes from KIA Group and So-Called PDF Terrorists in Homalin Township of Sagaing Region

     Terrorist groups have been engaging in battles, carrying out attacks using heavy weapons, drones to drop bombs and improvised explosive devices across towns and villages in various states and regions. Moreover, they are committing inhumane acts of terror and criminal activities—including abducting and extorting money from civil servants’ families and local civilians, as well as killings.

     Since they are conducting such terrorist acts, on 12 June 2025, Daw Seint Seint Thu (25 years old), a junior assistant teacher from the Sub-Basic Education High School in Nar Maw Village and a resident of Kyun Shwe Wah Ward in Phaung Pyin Township, informed security personnel in Homalin Township of Sagaing Region, that she had been abducted by an armed group consisting of KIA members and so-called PDF terrorists, but had later escaped and returned. 

     Following an investigation, it was found that on 11 November 2024 at around 11:30 AM, Daw Seint Seint Thu and fellow junior assistant teacher Daw Chaw Su Hlaing were abducted by terrorists while travelling to Nar Maw Village. They were taken to Pin Khot Village and then forced to carry out cooking and laundry duties for approximately 48 days at a nearby terrorist camp. 

     Subsequently, Daw Seint Seint Thu was transferred alone to another terrorist camp near Taung Paw Sal Village, where she was held for around four months. She was later moved to a camp near Tha Ngar Village in Phaung Pyin Township, where she was detained for an additional month. 

     On 28 May 2025, she escaped by motorboat to Mawlaik Town. From there, she travelled to Kale Town in a passenger vehicle operating along the Mawlaik-Kalewa-Kale route. She then flew from Kale Town to Monywa Town, and on 8 June 2025, she took a flight from Monywa Town back to Homalin Town. 

     Finally, on 12 June 2025, she reported the incident to the Homalin Township Education Commissioner’s Office, the General Administration Department, and security personnel and provided her testimony.

     Regarding the above incident, security personnel are continuing necessary operations in accordance with standard procedures to identify, apprehend and take action against the terrorists involved, it is reported.
