In some townships across States and Regions, terrorists motivated by a radical ideology that views “anyone with differing views is an enemy” are conducting violent assaults and assassinations. Their targets are administrative officials who do not support their terrorist acts. Using firearms and knives, these terrorists are committing brutal assassinations after accusing them of “Spies, Informants or Decoys”. This strategy is intended to instill fear among peaceable civilians and create a pervasive sense of dread within these communities.
Since they are committing such terrorist acts, on 29 August 2025 at 9:00 PM, a report stated that the body of man was found on the roadside of Myingyan – Nyaung-U road near the Kan Village fork road in Taungtha Township of Mandalay Region. When security personnel arrived at the scene for further investigation, the victim was identified as U Kyaw Thet (55 years old), a 100-household elder, a resident of Ya Thit Village in Taungtha Township. He was found dead with gunshot wounds. The investigation revealed that the incident had occurred around 3:00 AM, on the same day, while the victim was at his house. At that time, 10 so-called PDF terrorists arriving by five motorcycles, told him “We have some questions to ask,” and abducted him. The terrorists took him near the Kan Village fork road, where they opened fire on him. As a result, U Kyaw Thet died on the spot, it is reported.
Security personnel are persistently taking necessary measures to identify and apprehend the terrorists responsible for the aforementioned case, it is reported.
