Innocent Civilian Killed, Another Injured in Attack by So-Called PDF Terrorist Group in Mahlaing Township of Mandalay Region

   In some townships across States and Regions, terrorists motivated by a radical ideology that views “anyone with differing views is an enemy” are conducting violent assaults and assassinations. Their targets are innocent civilians who do not support their terrorist acts. Using firearms and knives, these terrorists are committing brutal assassinations after accusing them of “spies, informants or decoys”. This strategy is intended to instill fear among peaceable civilians and create a pervasive sense of dread within these communities.

   Since they are committing such terrorist acts, on 1 September 2025 at 7:20 PM, a report stated that a man was shot dead and another was injured near the Kan Village crossroads along the Mahlaing - Sal Toe road in Mahlaing Township of Mandalay Region. When security personnel arrived at the scene for further investigation, the victims were identified as U Khine Zaw Thin (41 years old), a resident of Thal Kan Village in Mahlaing Township and U San Win (38 years old), a resident of No. 2, Ward in Mahlaing Town. The investigation revealed that the incident had occurred around 6:00 PM on the same day, while they were travelling by motorcycle from Sal Toe Village to Mahlaing Town. When they reached at the crossroad, a so-called PDF terrorist group opened fire on them. As a result, U Khine Zaw Thin died on the spot, while U San Win sustained gunshot wounds. The deceased and injured individuals were transported to Mahlaing Township Public Hospital for examination and medical treatment, it is reported.

   Security personnel are persistently taking necessary measures to identify and apprehend the terrorists responsible for the aforementioned case, it is reported.
