Innocent Civilians Injured in Heavy Weapon Attack by KIA Armed Insurgents and So-called PDF Terrorists 

     In respective States and Regions, insurgent groups supporting terrorism and so-called PDF terrorist groups have been carrying out terrorist acts against non-military targets. These acts include detonating public roads and bridges, dropping bombs, firing heavy arms, using improvised mortars and setting fire to residential houses in areas where innocent civilians reside, such as wards and villages.

     Since they are committing such terrorist acts, on 13 June, 2024 at 4:30 PM, security personnel received a report stating that a man and a woman with shrapnel injuries arrived at the Mandalay Public Hospital in Chanayetharzan Township of Mandalay Region. When security personnel arrived there for further investigation, they discovered that on 12 June, 2024 at 1:00 PM, while U Nay Win (52 years old) and his wife, Daw Thaung Thaung Win (58 years old), residents of Mya Sein village of Singu Township, got shrapnel injuries from the explosion of a heavy weapon shell fired by a so-called PDF group and exploded in the yard while the couple was at their house, it was reported. 

     Similarly, on 13 June at 8:00 PM, security personnel received a report stating that a woman with shrapnel injuries arrived at the Myitkyina Public Hospital in Kachin State. When security personnel arrived there for further investigation, they discovered that on 13 June at 09:00 AM, while the victim was identified as Daw Saung Laum (40 years old), a resident of Madain village, Waingmaw Township and a heavy weapon shell fired by a group of KIA armed insurgents, along with so-called PDF terrorists fell and exploded near the chicken farm where she was, it was reported. 

     Security personnel are conducting further investigations to take punitive action against the perpetrators of terrorists who conducted the heavy weapon attacks into the villages, and also taking security measures to restore stability and peace in the area, it is reported.
