Vice-Chairman of State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win Attends and Delivers a Speech at Ceremony to Mark 75th Anniversary of Human Rights Day 

A ceremony marking the 75^th Anniversary of Human Rights Day took place at the Myanmar International Convention Centre-I in Nay Pyi Taw on 10 December. The Vice-Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC) Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win attended the meeting and delivered a speech as follows:

· Myanmar has signed the international human rights treaties including other treaties as a member country, and follows the provisions of the conventions.

· Peace, development and human rights are interrelated. Only when peace and development improve, will the people peacefully survive for their lifespans by enjoying socioeconomic development and fundamental human rights.

· Peace and stability is of great importance across the nation for improving fundamental rights of citizens and improvement of their socio-economy. As such, the SAC government has been working hard to reduce the violence and instability in the country and achieve peace.

· No matter how much efforts are made to encourage people to respect human rights and obtain basic human rights, if peace and stability does not prevail and if there are riots, violence and armed conflicts, human rights in those areas will also be faded.

· As the government prioritizes to develop the socio-economic life of the people, we are also encouraging domestic and foreign investments, creating job opportunities and improving the economic sectors.

· The ethnic people who live in the Republic of the Union of Myanmar, which is founded with diversity, should respect each other, hold human dignity, and practice their rights and responsibilities.

Then, the SAC Vice-Chairman Deputy Prime Minister and attendees viewed round documentary photos of the Myanmar National Human Rights Commission’s activities and books on human rights published by the commission.

Also present at the ceremony were the SAC members, union-level officials and union ministers, the chairman of the Nay Pyi Taw Council, senior military officers, the commander of the Nay Pyi Taw Command, deputy ministers, officials from the Myanmar Human Rights Commission, UN agencies and foreign missions in Myanmar and guests.
