The Progress of Border Areas and National Races Department Office Damaged in Heavy Weapon Attack by KNU and So-Called PDF Terrorists in Thandaunggyi Township of Kayin State

     Terrorists are ruthlessly carrying out abductions, killings and armed attacks, using both heavy and small weapons, on wards and villages, as well as conducting drone strikes, all with the intent to harm civilians and spread fear.

     Since they are conducting such terrorist acts, on 12 January 2026 at 6:00 PM, a heavy-weapon shell fired by combined group of KNU and so-called PDF terrorists exploded at the Progress of Border Areas and National Races Department Office in No. 1 Ward, Thandaunggyi Township of Kayin State. As a result, the office was damaged by the blast, but no one was injured, it is reported.

     According to the above-mentioned case, local residents are condemning and protesting against the indiscriminate firing of heavy weapons, small arms, improvised rockets and drone attacks by dropping bombs on wards and villages. In response, security personnel, in collaboration with local residents, are intensifying security measures to identify and apprehend the terrorists responsible for the incident, it is reported.
