People’s Militia Unit Member Killed and Another Injured in Attack by So-Called PDF Terrorists in Kyaung Kone Gyi Village, Pwintphyu Township of Magway Region

     In some townships across States and Regions, terrorists motivated by a radical ideology that views “anyone with differing views is an enemy” are conducting violent assaults and assassinations. Their targets are administrative officials who do not support their terrorist acts. Using firearms and knives, these terrorists are committing brutal assassinations after accusing them of “spies, informants or decoys”. This strategy is intended to instill fear among peaceable civilians and create a pervasive sense of dread within these communities.

     Since they are committing such terrorist acts, on 23 December 2025 at 6:05 AM, a so-called PDF terrorists launched an attack using small arms and heavy weapons to Kyaung Kone Gyi Village in Pwintphyu Township of Magway Region. Security personnel and members of the local People’s Militia Unit returned fire. At 8:30 AM, on the same day, the terrorists retreated. During the incident, U Mya Aung (49 yerars old), the leader of the unit and a resident of the village, was killed on the spot. In addition, U Maung Oo (55 years old), a member of the unit, sustained gunshot wounds and was transported to No. 16 Military Hospital (100-bedded) in Magway Town for medical treatment, it is reported.

     Security personnel are persistently taking necessary measures to identify and apprehend the terrorists responsible for the aforementioned case, it is reported.
