Ward Administrator and Six Innocent Civilians Killed, Six Others Injured, in Attack by So-Called PDF Terrorists in Nyaung-U Township of Mandalay Region

    In some townships across States and Regions, terrorists motivated by a radical ideology that views “anyone with differing views is an enemy” are conducting violent assaults and assassinations. Their targets are administrative officials and innocent civilians who do not support their terrorist acts. Using firearms and knives, these terrorists are committing brutal assassinations after accusing them of “spies, informants or decoys”. This strategy is intended to instill fear among peaceable civilians and create a pervasive sense of dread within these communities.
    Since they are committing such terrorist acts, on 1 June 2025 at 3:10 PM, a report stated that seven men were shot dead and five men and one woman were injured in Gant Gar Ward, Bagan Myothit, Nyaung-U Township of Mandalay Region. When security personnel arrived at the scene for further investigation, they discovered that the attack occurred during a meeting of 15 individuals including Ward Administrator U Zaw Zaw (aka) U Myint Zaw (51 years old), a resident of the ward who were convening a prep meeting for the 19th uninterrupted Maha Patthana recitation ceremony. Approximately 15 so-called PDF terrorists arrived at the location on a two-wheel tractor and two motorcycles. They opened fire at the religious hall where the meeting was taking place. As a result, the following individuals were killed on the spot U Zaw Zaw (aka) U Myint Zaw, U Tin Myaing (85 years old), U Khin Maung Htay (63 years old), U Khin Maung Than, (72 years old), U Than Tun (65 years old), U Soe Min (42 years old) and U Kyi Tun (66 years old). Additionally, the following individuals sustained gunshot wounds U Mya Aung (60 years old), U Kyaw Aung (74 years old),  Daw Khin San Myint (60 years old), U Hla Han (75 years old), U Kaung Myat Soe (48 years old) and U Win Hlaing (61 years old). All injured individuals were transported to Nyaung-U District Public Hospital for medical treatment, it is reported.
    Security personnel are persistently taking necessary measures to identify and apprehend the terrorists responsible for the aforementioned case, it is reported.
