So-Called PDF Terrorist Group Threaten Ward Administrator via Mobile Phone in Pathein Township of Ayayarwaddy Region

     The terrorists are carrying out acts of intimidation, abduction, extortion and assassination targeting administrative officials, civil servants from various departments, and innocent civilians. Their aim is to undermine national stability and peace, and to disrupt administrative mechanisms.

     Since they are committing such terrorist acts, on 12 September 2025 at 8:30 AM, while the ward administrator, U Than Tun (68 years old), a resident of No.12 Ward in Pathein Township of Ayayarwaddy Region, was at his house with his family, a so-called PDF terrorist group made a phone call to him and threatened him by saying, "We are giving you a chance. Are you going to resign or not? This is our warning. If you fail to resign within a week, don’t say we didn't warn you. We will do what we have to do". Subsequently, at 9:55 AM, they sent a threatening photo via Viber app. The photo, taken in a forest, showed armed individuals with their faces concealed. Furthermore, at 10:15 AM, they made a video call via Viber and threatened him again, saying, "Administrator, you be careful. We are giving you only one week". According to the report, security personnel investigated the incident and found that the threatening calls were made from a Viber account linked to the phone number 09-664926276, registered under the name Kyi Zan, it is reported.

     Security personnel are persistently taking necessary measures to identify and apprehend the terrorists responsible for the aforementioned case, it is reported.
