Vice-Chairman of State Administration Council Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win Attends and Delivers a Speech at Rehabilitation Coordination Meeting of Natural Disaster Management Committee 

The Rehabilitation Coordination Meeting of the Natural Disaster Management Committee took place at the meeting hall of the Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement in Nay Pyi Taw on 6^th June. The event was attended by the Vice-Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC) Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win, who is also Chairman of the National Natural Disaster Management Committee. During the event, the SAC Vice-Chairman said as follows:

· Regarding the Extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm “Mocha”, the relevant committees are carrying out rehabilitation efforts depending on the damage.

· As for the government, senior officers of the Tatmadaw have been sent to each township to perform duties. Similarly, the members of the National Disaster Management Committee have been sent to Sittwe and are taking in office at there, in order to closely supervise the rehabilitation measures such as removing the damages as soon as possible.

· Relief items donated by the generous donors and assistance purchased through the natural disaster funds are being transported to disaster hit areas by using Tatmadaw aircraft and naval vessels as well as public vehicles, vessels and airplanes.

· Thanks to the concerted efforts of the rehabilitation working committees, basic education schools and higher education schools were reopened in Rakhine State on 1^st June.

· In conducting the rehabilitation activities, it is necessary to soonest complete the reconstruction of schools and hospitals based on the priority levels and provide quality seeds of crops and agricultural machinery to local farmers as quickly as possible.

Afterwards, Vice-Chairman of the National Natural Disaster Management Committee Union Minister for Home Affairs Lt-Gen Soe Htut reported on the measures taken by the committee in the periods before and after the cyclone, Union Minister for 

Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr. Thet Thet Khine the acceptance and distribution of relief aids for the storm-hit areas while Union Minister for Transport and Communications Admiral Tin Aung San, Union Minister for Planning and Finance U Win Shein, Union Minister for International Cooperation U Ko Ko Hlaing and Union Minister for Legal Affairs Union Attorney-General Dr. Thida Oo respectively reported on the undertakings of rehabilitation tasks.

Continuously, Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air) General Maung Maung Aye and senior military officers reported on advanced preparations for the relief and rescue measures by Tatmadaw against the storm in the respective sectors, sending of the convoys to the respective regions that might be affected by the storm, transport of relief aids such as foodstuffs, supplies donated by the families of Tatmadaw (Army, Navy and Air) and generous donors and relief supplies provided by the disaster management committee by using naval vessels and aircraft from Tatmadaw, sales of rice, cooking oil, salt, eggs, vegetables and foodstuffs to the storm victims in Rakhine State at cheap prices and assistance in rehabilitation work.

Also present at the meeting were union ministers, the union attorney general, the Chief of the General Staff (Army, Navy and Air), senior military officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, deputy ministers, permanent secretaries, directors-general and officials. Union Ministers Lt-Gen Tun Tun Naung, U Myo Thant and Dr. Thet Thet Khaing and Chief Ministers from the Chin State, Magway Region, Rakhine State, Yangon Region and Ayeyawady Region participated in the meeting through video conference.
