Innocent Civilians Injured and Killed in Heavy Weapon Attacks on Wards and Villages by Insurgents Commiting Terroist Activities

     Insurgents commiting terroist activities have been engaging in battles, firing heavy weapons and improvised rockets and dropping bombs using drones into the public towns, wards and villages.

     Since they are committing such terrorist acts, on 4 August, 2024 at 3:15 PM, security personnel received a report stating that a man with shrapnel injuries had arrived at Mandalay Public Hospital in Chanayetharzan Township of Mandalay Region. When security personnel promptly arrived at the hospital for further investigation, it was discovered that on 3 August  at 7:30 PM, U Win Maung (65 years old) a resident of Lat Kaung Gyi Village in Madaya Township, had been in his house with his son-in-law, U Aung Zaw (47 years old) when a heavy weapon shell fired by a terrorist group, exploded on their house. As a result, U Win Maung died on the spot, while U Aung Zaw sustained shrapnel injuries, it is reported. 

     Similarly, on 5 August, 2024 at 7:15 AM, security personnel received a report stating that a man and a woman with shrapnel injuries had arrived at Mandalay Public Hospital in Chanayetharzan Township of Mandalay Region. When security personnel promptly arrived at the hospital for further investigation, it was discovered that the victims were Ko Chit Kaung (22 years old)  and his wife, Ma Ei Shwe Sin (21 years old)  both residents of Kyan Sit Thar Ward in Myinmu Township of Sagaing Region. The incident occurred on 4 August at 5:00 PM. While the couple were taking a shower in front of their house, a heavy weapon shell fired by a so-called PDF terrorist group exploded nearby, causing their injuries, it is reported. 

     Due to the heinous acts of armed insurgents and terrorists such as engaging in battles and firing of heavy weapons and improvised rockets within towns, wards and villages where innocent civilians peacefully reside, innocent civilians are injured. Consequently, local residents are protesting vehemently against these acts of terrorism, completely refusing to accept them. Security personnel are intensifying necessary security measures in collaboration with the local residents, it is reported.
