Publication of the Myanmar National Human Rights Commission’s 2024 Annual Report

   The Myanmar National Human Rights Commission (MNHRC) has been carrying out its mandates in accordance with the duties and powers stipulated in the Commission's enabling law. To ensure public awareness of its activities, the Commission has been publishing annual reports since 2011. The 2024 Annual Report has been printed and released in both Myanmar and English languages in March 2025 and is uploaded on the Commission’s official website: http://mnhrc.org.mm.

   The 2024 Annual Report covers the Commission’s activities of human rights promotion and education, human rights protection, international relations on human rights, legal measures, and the operations of its six divisions. In 2024, the Commission carried out 70 human rights education sessions as part of its awareness-raising efforts. In collaboration with the Ministry of Ethnic Affairs, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was translated and printed in nine ethnic languages. The Commission also issued official statements and published e-newsletter throughout the year. As part of its human rights protection activities, the Commission carried out investigations into complaints and conducted inspections at 55 facilities, including prisons, jails, labour camps, police lock-ups, and court detention centres. Additionally, inspections were conducted at eight youth training schools, one school for persons with disabilities, and ten homes for the aged. Based on the findings from these visits, a total of 314 recommendations were sent to the respective authorities.
