The Myanmar National Human Rights Commission inspects Vocational Training Center for Women (Yangon)..

1.       On December 19, 2024, the inspection team, led by U Kyaw Soe and U Than Win, Commissioners of the Myanmar National Human Rights Commission (MNHRC) inspected Vocational Training Center for Women (Yangon) in Bahan Township, Yangon Region, in accordance with Sections 43 and 44 of the Commission Law.

2.          During the inspection, the team inspected the conditions for women accommodated and trained at the facility. This included assessing healthcare services, food supply and nutrition, living conditions in dormitories, access to adequate personal hygiene items, availability of clean drinking water, and the cleanliness and adequacy of bathing ponds. The team also reviewed efforts to enhance the women’s mental and physical well-being through character-building programs. Furthermore, they examined the women’s access to fundamental rights, such as maintaining contact with their families, opportunities for family reunification, safety and livelihood security, vocational and educational opportunities, and freedom of religion and belief. The team additionally assessed the progress made in implementing recommendations from the Commission’s previous inspection visits.

3.       MNHRC will inform its findings and recommendations to the relevant department in accordance with the MNHRC law for necessary actions.
